PDFing: a Zero-Trust, Client-Side Document Platform

PDFing is Intactic's free-forever PDF productivity suite where every conversion, edit, and render happens inside the browser via WebAssembly. Files never leave the user's device, there is zero server telemetry, and the PWA keeps the full toolchain available offline — built for sensitive corporate contracts, legal paperwork, and confidential documents.

THE ARCHITECTURAL CHALLENGE

Mainstream document tools upload user files to a server for processing. For legal contracts, financial paperwork, and confidential corporate documents that is a non-starter: it creates a trust boundary, a compliance burden, and a per-file infrastructure cost. We wanted a document platform where sensitive files physically cannot leak because they are never sent anywhere — without sacrificing conversion power, speed, or accessibility.

THE INTACTIC SOLUTION

We built the entire toolchain on client-side engines: PDF-lib and Canvas rendering compiled to WebAssembly execute every operation inside the browser tab. A zero-logging architecture means no file, and no telemetry about files, ever reaches a server. Progressive Web App support with service-worker caching keeps the tools working without an active internet connection, and enterprise deployments can run air-gapped. The product ships free forever at pdfing.pro.bd, with a dedicated Cloudflare R2 bucket isolating product assets from the corporate platform.

Architecture Deep-Dive
  • Every PDF operation runs through WebAssembly-compiled engines (pdf-lib and Canvas) inside the browser tab — the server never sees a byte of user content.
  • The zero-logging architecture removes the trust boundary entirely, which is what makes the product viable for legal, financial, and confidential corporate documents.
  • PWA support with service-worker caching means the complete toolchain remains available offline, not just the landing page.
  • A dedicated Cloudflare R2 bucket (pdfingpro) isolates product assets from the corporate platform infrastructure.
  • The enterprise roadmap targets air-gapped environments: local OCR in WebAssembly for 50+ languages and cryptographically verified PDF form filling, with zero cloud inference calls.
